The Department of Computer Science, KKU offered an online professional training course on “Emerging Technologies in Data Modeling and Management” during June 11-13, 2021. The training covers the major categories of NoSQL data management systems including key-value and document models, which are increasing in popularity due to the growth of non-relational data and data-driven/data-intensive applications, and the capabilities of NoSQL databases to solve problems relational databases cannot handle effectively. The course explores the importance and applications of NoSQL databases, the classification of the databases and how to use them in real-world scenarios.
There were participants from various industrial sectors such as software engineers/developers, drone engineers, system engineers, IT consultants, medical practitioners, plan and Information officers, technical specialists, data managers, and researchers from Thailand and Cambodia.
Due to the pandemic, the training methods were 100% online technical hands-on training and workshop with practical tools, running the given examples, practicing on exercises and business use cases to design, create databases, load, and query data. Materials, instructions, and resources were provided in the project’s virtual learning environment (VLE). During the training, CS, KKU also presented the information about the DS&AI project and DS&AI master program in order to attract prospective students and enhance the possibilities for further collaboration with the industries.
The participants who attended all of the three days training sessions already received the certificate of attendance from KKU and are eligible to take the certification exam on Data Modeling and Management organized by Leiden University.
